FAQ

How much are 10,000 points worth in dollars?
It depends entirely on the program. 10,000 Amex Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth roughly $180 at our baseline (more via transfer partners). 10,000 United or Delta miles are worth about $120. 10,000 Marriott points are worth about $70, and 10,000 Hilton points only about $50. There is no universal exchange rate — the program sets the value.
How do I convert points to dollars?
Multiply your points by the program’s cents-per-point value, then divide by 100. Example: 25,000 points × 1.8¢ ÷ 100 = $450. The calculator on this page does this with AwardClaw’s 2026 baseline valuations and also shows the realistic floor (cashing out) and ceiling (strong award redemptions) for each program.
Can I actually cash points out for dollars?
Sometimes, but usually at a poor rate. Chase lets you redeem Ultimate Rewards at a flat 1.0¢ for cash back. Amex Membership Rewards cash out at just 0.6¢ as statement credits. Airline miles and hotel points generally cannot be converted to cash at all — their dollar value only exists when you redeem them for travel. That is why transferable bank points carry the highest baseline values.
Why are my points worth more on flights than as cash back?
Award charts and dynamic pricing do not scale with cash prices. A business-class seat that sells for $4,000 can often be booked for 80,000 points — 5¢ per point — while the same points cash out at 1¢ or less. If you redeem for premium-cabin travel you routinely triple the dollar value shown by the baseline. Our finders and drop alerts exist to catch exactly those redemptions.
Are these valuations official?
No program publishes an official dollar value (except fixed-value redemption rates like Chase’s 1¢ cash-out). These are AwardClaw’s 2026 baseline valuations, derived from what typical well-executed redemptions return. They are deliberately conservative: treat the baseline as what your points are worth if you redeem sensibly, not a guarantee.
